A study visit to German-Malaysian Training Institute (GMI) was organized by GIZ VTN Project for a delegation of 11 officials from Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development (MYASD), National Apprentice and Industrial Training Authority (NAITA), Vocational Training Authority (VTA), Don Bosco and GIZ between 16.11.2014 and 22.11.2014. The weeklong visit covered training on Teaching Methods, Curricula development, and other areas and also had discussions on practical issues. The delegation also had the opportunity to have meetings with the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Human Resource Development Fund Malaysia.

The aim of the visit is to learn and share the GMI experiences and best practices which could be useful for the Sri Lankan – German Training Institute (SLGTI). The German-Malaysian Institute was established in the year 1991 for advanced skills training. The GMI is a joint venture between the governments of Malaysia and Germany. It is conducting diploma level courses on Industrial Electronics, Production Technology, German A-Level preparatory programme and other short courses.
