Sri Lankan German collaboration in the vocational training sector in Sri Lanka spans five decades. To celebrate reaching this 50-year milestone GIZ Sri Lanka launched a publication documenting Germany’s contribution to the vocational training sector in the country. This publication – Intertwining History; Developing Sustainability: the people, the voices, the experiences, 50 years of German collaboration in Vocational Training in Sri Lanka was launched on 5th June 2013 at Duke’s Court, Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo 2. The Hon Dullas Alahapperuma Minister of Youth Affairs & Skills Development had sent a message to mark this occasion which was read by Dr T A Piyasiri, Vice Chancellor UNIVOTEC.
His Excellency Dr. Jürgen Morhard, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, also graced the occasion. Mr K A Thilakarathne, Secretary Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development received the publication on behalf of the Hon Dullas Alahaperuma Minister for Youth Affairs and Skills Development from His Excellency Dr. Jürgen Morhard, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany
The Vocational Training for the North of Sri Lanka (VTN) project was responsible for coordinating, compiling and launching of the publication. The publication has been the result of collaboration between a team of dedicated writers drawing from the experiences of German and Sri Lankan stakeholders who have been key players in the vocational training sector in Sri Lanka.
