The GIZ VTN Project completed a training programme for the managers of its satellite centres in the North and East. Twenty two participants from the NAITA, VTA, Don Bosco and ORHAN vocational training centres participated in this management training course. The training sessions included an analysis of the present status of each vocational training centre, planning for its future development, implementation of quality management systems in each centre, the marketing of vocational training courses, On-The-Job (OJT) placement and procedures and the inclusion of gender sensitivity, social integration, career guidance and entrepreneurship development in vocational training. The training programme was conducted at the Thulhiriya MAS Athena Learning and Development Centre in Kurunegala with the support of national experts on each topic who acted as the facilitators. The training session was conducted from 14th to 18th December 2016. This training enabled the participants to develop better management practices in the respective vocational training centres and to ensure the delivery of demand driven vocational training to youth in the North and East of Sri Lanka.
