GIZ vocational Training in the North of Sri Lanka Project (VTN) in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development is organized the second private sector forum on Involvement of Private Sector on TVET. The forum was held on Tuesday 9th December 2014 at CrystalBall Room – Hotel Taj Samudra, Colombo.

Mr Hiran Cooray – Chairman, Jetwing Hotels Ltd delivered the keynote speech on the topic “The Tourism sector –sound basis for private – public sector collaboration”. The keynote address highlighted the best practices of Jet wing Youth Development project (JYDP) which was launched in January 2006 to provide a solution for the human resources shortage in the hospitality sector. Interactive panel discussion was held after the keynote address on this topic. The panel were consist Mr A R Desapriya – Additional Secretary, MYASD, Colonel Dharshana Rathnayake – Chairman, Vocational Training Authority (VTA) and Ms Angeline Ondaatjie – Joint Managing Director – Tangerine Beach Hotels PLC and Royal Palms Beach Hotels PLC together with Mr Hiran Cooray

The discussions in the forum addressed a wider range of private sector involvement in the tourism sector training, cooperation options to analyze existing practice and experience, and identified constraints and analyzed the ways of strengthen the involvement and cooperation.
