Approximately 170 trainees from the NAITA Phase I training center Kilinochchi, VTA training center Kinniya, and VTA training center Kanthale from North and East together with the trainees from the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute (CGTTI), the Sri Lankan-German Railway Technical Training Centre (SLGRTTC), and Industrial Engineering Training Institute (IETI) from the South – Colombo participated in the social evening which was a special part of “The North and East meet the South 2015”. The event was held at BMICH – Colombo on 19th November 2015 with the motto “We celebrate our diversity”. Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe – Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training made the event success as a chief guest.

Various fun activities, interactive games, drama and entertainment music program were offered to the trainees to participate and engage together and with each other.  This event brought young people of different ethnic, religious and social backgrounds together with the aim to foster relationships, trust and understanding among them. The event gave them an opportunity to share and exchange their ideas and talents with other young people from across the country. It was a wonderful way of celebrating the diversity of a country and creating mutual understanding, the basis of living together in harmony.
